We all face challenges in our lives when what ends up happening suddenly diverges from what we planned. Each time we face an unexpected shift, we get to see what thought patterns and assumptions automatically kick in to manage our sense of safety and well-being.
Bill and I hit this process at full speed this week. Without doing either of us humans harm, the motor home that we were preparing to sell decided to leave our lived in a different and more dramatic way. Our reactions were new and surprising, reflecting the benefits of the inner work we have been doing as part of preparing for the move.
Very inspiring! It’s been good to follow along on your journey as you move towards your new home!

I was introduced to the term “Dark Night of the Ego” by Robert Ohotto in his work on archetypal energies. A dark night is when old adaptive archetypes / ego identities stop working in our lives to allow or propel us forward along our psycho/spiritual journey to wholeness. I love his assertion that it is not a “Dark Night of the Soul,” because the “soul” does not go dark. It is the “ego” that moves through a dark passage as we let go of who we have thought we were on the way to a new self-understanding of who we are in the world. It is the soul, our highest self, our helping spirits and guides who see us through.
